VSCO Montage

In 2019, VSCO decided to reimagine what video would look like on our platform. This year, VSCO Montage was introduced as VSCO’s new mixed media feature for members. This storytelling feature allows consumers to bring their stories to life by combining videos, images, and shapes.

We worked with four creators who represent different artistic mediums, backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, and gender identities to demonstrate the ever-evolving nature of human identity through the mixed media feature, Montage.

Each creator’s unique story and perspective is reflected through a different visual theme. As a Product Marketing launch, we balanced the inspiration from our creators with educational videos on how to use the new VSCO Montage features.

Trinity Mobley — Trinity is a pansexual black man whose creativity knows no gender, sexual, or social boundaries.

Kalen Hollmon — Questioning norms and interpreting the polarity of people, places and things is a thread Kalen carries from his parent’s experience to his own, in his life and work.

Emma Penrose — From growing up in a dance community to her work as a filmmaker, Emma explores the principles and practice of queering space — refusing fixed positions and rather embracing a fluid space of possibility.

Faye Wei Wei —
Combining inspiration from her predecessors and her contemporaries alike, Faye explores love, masculine tropes, and the performance of gender in her paintings.
